Evaluating long-term outcomes and sustainability of interventions aimed at protecting adolescent girls and promoting safer futures.

This assignment was a final evaluation of a 30-month project targeting 300 marginalized girls aged 11–17 years and their families across three unions in Rangpur district of Bangladesh to prevent child marriage, while indirectly reaching 10,000 community members.

The evaluation employed a mixed-methods design; including quantitative surveys with 75 beneficiary households, comparative surveys with a non-intervention union, and qualitative tools such as focus group discussions and key informant interviews; to assess the project’s effectiveness, impact, sustainability, relevance, and efficiency against OECD-DAC criteria.

The assignment examined interventions such as self-help groups, adolescent clubs, community-based child protection committees, training on child rights and life skills, seed capital and skill development for income-generating activities, and advocacy with faith leaders and duty-bearers, with the aim of generating evidence-based findings and recommendations for future child marriage prevention programming in Bangladesh.
