This assignment explores how gender-responsive governance can strengthen local water management systems in Bangladesh’s climate-vulnerable coastal communities by integrating evidence, institutional analysis, and community perspectives into decision-making processes by combining gender assessment, stakeholder mapping, socio-economic analysis, and governance diagnostics to establish a comprehensive evidence base for designing inclusive interventions.

Rather than treating gender as a standalone consideration, the engagement positions women’s participation as a critical driver of effective and sustainable water governance, developing frameworks that support monitoring systems, locally relevant indicators, and collaborative action plans that promote accountability and broader community ownership.

The work contributes to an emerging body of practice recognizing that climate resilience depends not only on physical infrastructure but equally on inclusive institutions capable of representing diverse voices and adapting to changing conditions, demonstrating how governance reform intertwined with gender transformation can strengthen both community resilience and long-term water security across vulnerable coastal landscapes.
